Laura Flynn

Program Manager
Program on Science, Technology and Society

Laura Flynn is a native to the Boston area and has spent most of her career in financial services. She brings a passion for higher education with her to the role of Program Coordinator for STS. Laura studied marketing and finance at Boston University’s Metropolitan College. She currently lives north of Boston with her husband Steven and sons, Kelan, and Gerard. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her large extended family, reading, photography and attending the events of her nieces and nephews.

Alex Wellerstein

Design Coordinator
Program on Science, Technology and Society

Alex Wellerstein is the Design Coordinator for the Program on Science, Technology, and Society at the Harvard Kennedy School. In this role, he has designed most of the websites and print media (including posters and fliers) used by the STS Program since 2006. He also designed the STS Program logo.

His work as a graphic designer and web developer has been parallel with his work as an historian and STS scholar. Alex received his Ph.D. in the History of Science from Harvard University in 2010. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School (International Security Program/Managing the Atom) in 2010-2011. From 2011-2014 he was an Associate Historian at the American Institute of Physics in College Park, MD. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Science and Technology Studies at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

He researches the history of nuclear weapons, with an emphasis on the history of nuclear secrecy in the United States, and is the author of Restricted Data: The Nuclear Secrecy Blog (https://blog.nuclearsecrecy.com).
