Péricles Gonçalves is a law professor at FGV Rio Law, where he also serves as Institutional Projects Coordinator. He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in Regulatory Law from FGV Rio Law. He was a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School (2022-2023) and a Visiting Scholar at the University of California Irvine School of Law (2018). He holds a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedural Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member at FGV Rio Law, Péricles practised law in both government and private sectors. His research interest is in regulation, more specifically in risk regulation. His book “Risk regulation in Brazil: the role of science in the regulatory process” (in press) analyzes the role of regulatory science and offers a model of risk regulation for the Brazilian reality based on the notion of risk as a social construction developed especially by Sheila Jasanoff.
