Rachel Douglas-Jones is an Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She received her Ph.D. in Anthropology in 2013 from Durham University with the doctoral thesis Locating Ethics, which is focused on ethics as a mechanism of research governance in biomedicine.Her empirical fieldwork in the Asian region concentrated on capacity building programs for biomedical research ethics committees, and emerged out of a large Economic and Social Research Council funded grant called International Science and Bioethics Collaborations which was a collaboration between the Universities of Cambridge, Durham and Sussex. Her interest in the governance of science and committees in particular was extended during 2014 during her appointment to the Biology and Law project at Harvard University, during which she designed and undertook research with ESCROs in Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Arizona.
